Technology growing, will it change our education?

The technology of today is evolving at such an incredible rate that within two years there will probably be something that'll like read your mind or something to change songs or something intense like that. But what does this mean for the students who are growing up in this day and age of technology? My prediction is that there will be laptops in every class room (Provided budget can supply)and there wont be any need for paper, because as of this year insted of filling out a a sheet on what courses you want to take next year its all done online much like the enlgish program this year, where you have to go on the teachers site just to be able to find out what projects there are and the outlines for it. I think its not right to just assume that ever kid has a computer at there home to access the internet from, but I guesse that's what is expected of students nowadays. With all of this technology coming up kids aren't going to be able to think for themselves without running it through a computer or something that will calculate something for them. So my conclusion for all this is that technology is gonna take over someday.

  1. I agree on the computer comment. I am in the that english class where I can access a site and have all of my english information on it. I really like the idea of it, but recently my computer broke and I am finding it difficult to keep up with work. My teacher does let us use the computers at school twice a week, but I don't think that's enough for all students.

  2. Agreed. I don't know what's wrong with the whole paper and pen. Students already rely on technology to do the thinking for them, I can't imagine what it will be like in the future. If we don't think for ourselves, we won't learn by ourselves, and we won't ever be interested in what we want to learn, or do in our future... simply because we've depended on technology for so much of our lives.

  3. I've got to say, it'd be better for the trees. At least we wouldn't be chopping down thousands and thousands to turn into paper that we write on once, and then toss out.

Having said that, it's true. Not everyone can afford a computer, or if they can they often can't afford an internet bill in the mail every month. It's not fair to make courses reliant on technology, unless the school is willing to pay for it.

  4. DI you know Stratford is installing free wireless in many areas of the city? They are being installed with other public utilities. Soon, you won't have to pay for internet access. This will be a big change - especially for accessibility.
